Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper welcomed NBA legend LeBron James to Philadelphia after his signing with the 76ers. Harper said that he may have helped reshape Philadelphia’s image as a sports destination on the baseball side after signing a 13-year, $330M deal in 2019.

Harper highlighted the city’s passionate fan base and the recent success of some of its major sports teams, including the Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, and Flyers. He said Philadelphia is in a strong position as a sports city, with teams competing at a high level.

Harper further praised James’ competitive mindset, noting that there was little advice he could offer someone of his calibre. He said that James has always been under pressure to win throughout his career, and he knows he’ll do the same in Philadelphia. “He’s one of the greatest to do it,” Bryce Harper said.
