The city police have counselled beach photographers operating along RK Beach, following complaints of misconduct and harassment of visitors.
Following complaints from tourist and visitors that some photographers click photographs without their consent and later pressure them to pay more than the agreed amount for the photographs, the III Town Police convened a meeting with the photographers and their union representatives.
The police instructed them to maintain professional conduct and treat tourist with courtesy while interacting with them. The photographers were also told not to click photographs without obtaining prior consent.
Additionally, the police have directed photographers to adhere to a dress code while on duty to help tourists identify authorised photographers easily.
Inspector of III Town police station, L Appalanaidu told the media that photographers have been instructed to maintain good behaviour and public order. Additionally, any violation of the directions or instances of harassment would invite stringent legal action. Those found violating the rules could be produced before a Magistrate, who may impose a penalty of up to ₹1 lakh under the relevant provisions of law, he said.
