Political organisation Jagrutha Karnataka has requested Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to issue specific guidelines to help Devadasis and their children complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration process, saying they face difficulties in furnishing parental details in the forms.

In a representation submitted to the CEO on Monday, the group cited the Women and Child Development Department’s 2025 data, which records 23,395 Devadasis in Karnataka.

The group said many Devadasis, having left their families, were hesitant to give the names of their parents in the enumeration forms. It also claimed that many children of Devadasis were facing difficulties in filling in their fathers’ names.

The group sought separate guidelines for election officials and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to facilitate the enumeration process for Devadasis and their children.

It said a written clarification from the CEO would help Devadasis, their children and the BLOs complete the SIR process uniformly and without confusion.
