The district health department has strengthened preparedness following the reported deaths due to COVID-19 in Kadapa district and a few individuals reporting COVID-like symptoms.

As a precautionary step, the District Medical and Health Department has ensured the availability of Rapid Diagnostic (RD) kits and adequate stocks of medicines across government healthcare facilities. A dedicated COVID-19 ward has also been prepared in the CSR Block of King George Hospital (KGH) to handle any potential cases if the need arises.

District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) P. Jagadeeswara Rao, however, appealed to the public not to panic, stating that the situation is completely under control and there is no cause for concern. Clarifying that there are currently no COVID-19 cases in the district, he emphasised that the COVID-19 ward has been established purely as a precautionary measure and will remain ready as part of the district’s preparedness plan.
