The Tamil Nadu Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society workers’ association led a protest here over a raft of demands on Monday. They demanded a universal wage hike across all agriculture cooperative societies. They also slammed delays in the settlement towards retirement benefits.

According to the protesters, all settlements must be initiated six months prior to retirement, so that all financial benefits are cleared on the date of retirement. The workers also demanded immediate release of arrears of benefits pending across societies.

Among the various demands included a gratuity of ₹25 lakh and compassionate employment to a family member in the event of death of a worker.
