The special investigation team (SIT) probing the alleged examination irregularities in the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has formally sought documents related to the controversial recruitment process from the constitutional body.

Investigators have sought records related to the controversial State Planning Board examinations, including the question paper, answer key, list of candidates who took the examination, details of those shortlisted for interviews, and information related to the on-screen marking process.

However, while the PSC has assured full cooperation towards the ongoing probe, it remains to be seen if the body shares the confidential records, considering the commission does not generally share sensitive examination-related documents with external agencies.

The move comes after the Crime Branch recorded the statements of a few candidates who appeared for PSC examinations conducted for three posts in the Planning Board. The candidates are learnt to have submitted supporting evidence, including mark lists and other documents, they had reportedly obtained from the PSC through the Right to Information Act.

Meanwhile, the probe appears likely to expand beyond the State Planning Board recruitment process. The Crime Branch has received complaints alleging irregularities in many other government departments and agencies. Such complaints are presently being scrutinised, and the statements of the complainants could be recorded in the coming days.

The SIT, headed by Inspector General S. Ajeetha Begum, was constituted against the backdrop of the allegations of irregularities in various examinations conducted by the PSC.
