European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are set to make a move to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres after his impact at the FIFA World Cup, as per reports. The Ligue 1 giants are in the market for attacking reinforcement ahead of the 2026-27 season.
According to SPORT, PSG are set to accelerate their interest in Torres after failing to land Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. They want the Spain international to strengthen their squad, which has been left light following the exits of Goncalo Ramos and Kang-In Lee this summer.
Ferran Torres was the hero for Spain during the FIFA World Cup final, lashing home the winner in extra-time of the final against Argentina. The 26-year-old had also been impressive for Barcelona as they won the LaLiga title, scoring 21 goals across all competitions for La Blaugrana.
PSG boss Luis Enrique is a Barcelona icon and follows the club closely, and has worked in the past with Torres with Spain's national team. The tactician values the versatility of the former Manchester City man, who is capable of playing across the frontline.
Ferran Torres is one of the targets for Les Parisiens alongside France international Maghnes Akliouche, and they will look to bring in both players before the end of the transfer window. With other clubs sniffing, they will be keen to conclude deals to sign both players, particularly after they lost Diomande to Real Madrid within 48 hours.
La Blaugrana are open to selling Ferran Torres, despite his exploits at the FIFA World Cup and for the club. The club are not keen to enter into a complicated contract negotiation with him, and would rather let him leave with one year remaining on his contract.
The future of Manchester City star Rodri is up in the air as three of Europe's biggest clubs are in a tussle for his signature. Reports from France have indicated that Barcelona and PSG have entered into the race for the 30-year-old midfielder this summer.
RMC Sport reports that both Barcelona and PSG have identified Rodri as an opportunistic signing, particularly as Real Madrid appear to be slow to bring him in. Both sides have now made initial contacts to understand the conditions at which a deal can be done for the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner.
Rodri expressed a desire to join Real Madrid from Manchester City and has held out on a new deal at the Etihad, waiting for an offer from the Bernabeu. The FIFA World Cup winner will weigh up his options and decide where he wants to continue his career.
