Losing a job after more than a decade at the same company can be devastating for many professionals. But for one Pune-based IT employee, it marked the beginning of a completely different chapter. Instead of worrying about uncertainty, he chose to leave the tech industry behind and return to his village, where a backup plan he had prepared over the years was already waiting.

The story was shared on X by Pune-based founder Vanesh Mali, who recounted how one of his friends remained surprisingly calm after being laid off from a major IT company.

According to Vanesh Mali, his friend had worked at a large IT company for more than 12 years and had built a strong reputation for his work. However, a recent round of layoffs affected many employees, including him.
Unlike many others, though, the tech professional did not react with disappointment. As Vanesh Mali shared, his friend said he had been prepared for this possibility and had already planned what he would do next.


Rather than searching for another job in the IT sector, he decided to leave the industry altogether. He felt the technology landscape changes too quickly and wanted a more stable and self-directed life.
The former IT employee returned to his village, where he already owned a small shop that had been rented out. His plan is to take back the shop and start running his own clothing business.



His ambitions do not stop there. With family-owned agricultural land available, he also plans to start a goat farm, creating another source of income while staying connected to farming. Vanesh Mali shared that his friend believes everyone should have a backup plan because life can change unexpectedly. According to the post, the former techie said people should always keep a Plan B ready since life is full of uncertainties and constant change.

Instead of viewing the layoff as a setback, he now sees it as an opportunity to build a new life on his own terms. According to Vanesh Mali, his friend is happy, optimistic and excited about beginning this new journey in his village, combining entrepreneurship, farming and self-employment after spending more than a decade in the corporate IT world.
