R Madhavan once reflected about the plight of Indian men in Western nations and how gradually the perception of Indian men in the global ecosystem changed for the better. In a chat shared on BookMyShow’s YouTube channel, the 3 Idiots star reflected how Indian men were once regarded with suspicion by foreign women and they had to be hesitant when they visited abroad, and be wary of unintentionally scaring of any woman or committing a cultural faux pas. However, gradually, the perception changed and Indian men were approached by women abroad as many of them assumed they would be a high-profile entrepreneur.

“When we used to go abroad and go to a bar, all the white women would look at us like we were there to hit on them. Now, it is such that when an Indian enters a space, four white women walk towards us thinking we are some entrepreneur and they want to say hello. I have not seen that Indian in the movies yet,” he said and added that he wants to see this version of Indian men in the movies.

In UK and the US, Indians typically occupy a good portion of the high paying jobs as well as the apex positions in companies.

According to a survey released by the Pew Research Centre, the median household income for Indian American families stood at $145,000 in 2022, indicating that 50% of households led by an Indian American earned above this amount, while the remaining half earned below it. This figure was considerably higher than the overall median household income for Asian American families, which was approximately $100,000 during the same year, highlighting the comparatively stronger earning levels among Indian American households.

According to figures shared by The Globalist, Indian Americans have founded no less than 72 out of 358 billion dollar startups since 2018.
