Real Madrid are reportedly highly interested in signing Rodri this summer. According to Sky Sports (h/t GOAL), they also held a secret meeting with his representatives in Pozuelo, Madrid, on Tuesday, July 21.

Los Blancos are looking to strengthen their squad after having a trophyless 2025-26 campaign. They have re-appointed Jose Mourinho as their manager and have signed the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Marc Cucurella. They are now looking to strengthen their midfield.

Rodri has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Bernabeu. His contract with Manchester City expires next summer. Hence, if he doesn't sign an extension, he could be available for free next year. Hence, the Cityzens could sell him this summer to get a big transfer fee.

According to the aforementioned report, Real Madrid had a 'secret' meeting with Rodri's representatives at a restaurant in Madrid on Tuesday. They are hoping to agree on personal terms with the Spanish midfielder.

However, finances could also be an issue in a potential transfer. While Real Madrid don't want to go above €60 million, Manchester City are demanding around €100 million.

Rodri, notably, has previous experience in LaLiga. He joined Villarreal's academy from Atletico Madrid's academy in 2013, before returning to Atletico as a senior player in 2018. He has made 97 appearances in the Spanish top flight, recording four goals and five assists.

Luis Figo recently spoke about Rodri potentially moving to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. He said that while it is difficult, Los Blancos always look to target the best players in the world. He heaped praise on the Spanish midfielder and said (h/t Managing Madrid):

Figo also praised Rodri's performances at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup. The midfielder captained Spain to the title and also won the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player in the tournament. Figo said:

Rodri has had an illustrious career so far, winning the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Premier League, and the Ballon d'Or, among other honors.
