A reality TV star has revealed the heartbreak of being unable to reach his seriously ill 13-year-old daughter after she was rushed to hospital in the US in the wake of a medical emergency. Armando Rubio, a Mexican national who appears on hit reality series 90 Day Fiancé with his American husband Kenny Niedermeier, took to social media to shared his emotional update on Tuesday (July 14). The 37-year-old dad revealed that his daughter Hannah had complained of feeling unwell.
He then noticed one side of her face had become "droopy". The 13-year-old then lost all strength down one side of her body. Fearing the worst, Rubio took her to a local doctor in their village. Their GP advised she be transferred elsewhere because the town did not have the specialist equipment needed to carry out further tests. That's when the family decided to take Hannah to the US.

Rubio's mother travelled with the teen by ambulance to Arizona. Once across the US border, doctors discovered blood in Hannah's brain, but were still unable to determine what had caused her symptoms. The teen was airlifted to Phoenix, where she remains in an intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in the Arizona capital. While his mother remains at Hannah's bedside, and his husband - who had been attending a family funeral in Ohio when Hannah fell ill - was on his way, Rubio himself remains unable to cross the border as he awaits his spousal visa. "Unfortunately, I can't be there, which is the hardest part of it all," he told fans in the emotional video on Instagram.

In an interview with Page Six, Rubio said he had tried to obtain temporary humanitarian parole so he could enter the US to be with Hannah, but claimed a US Customs and Border Protection supervisor told him such requests haven't been granted since 2025. He told the celebrity gossip column that he and his immigration lawyer are now pursuing a separate emergency application so he can be by Hannah's bedside. "Every parent wants to be at their child's bedside when they're sick, and not being able to hold her hand or comfort her has been the hardest thing I've ever experienced. It feels like we've been separated when she needs her dad the most," he said, adding: "I am doing everything within my power to be reunited with her because, more than anything, she needs her daddy, and I need to be with my little girl."

Later, on social media, Rubio said he would continue to update his fans on Hannah's condition. Alongside footage of her being flown to hospital, he wrote: "My baby girl. Please send healing vibes her way." He also shared a GoFundMe page set up by a close family friend to help cover Hannah's medical bills. The fundraiser had raised more than USD$135,896 (£100,972) raised of its USD$210,00 (£156,033) target.
"I'm honestly embarrassed to ask for help," Rubio admitted, adding that a close friend reminded him it was OK to lean on others during difficult times. Rubio and Niedermeier first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in 2020. The reality show is a spin-off of the regular 90 Day Fiancé set up, where a foreigner moves to the US to marry their long distance partner within the 90 day visa requirements as set out in US law. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is as the name suggests: It's 90 Day Fiancé, but in reverse. So, viewers followed Niedermeier's move to Mexico to build a life with Rubio after the pair met through a Facebook group for gay dads. Hannah is Rubio's daughter from a previous relationship. Niedermeier is a father to four children: son Bricen and triplet daughters Madison, Cassidy and Taylor, who were conceived via IVF.
