A new report has revealed details around why a top AEW star has been off TV for months. The star was last seen in April.

We are discussing the masked wrestling persona El Clon. Portrayed by Mexican Luchador Arez, El Clon debuted in the Jacksonville-based promotion in October 2025 and was presented as the sinister alter ego (twin) of AEW star Hologram. Soon after his first appearance, El Clon became a prominent feature on weekly programming by joining the Don Callis family. That said, El Clon has not been seen since April, with his last match coming on an episode of Collision, where he unsuccessfully challenged then-National Champion Jack Perry for the title.

It's now been almost 3 months since we've seen El Clon, so naturally there was speculation about his status with Tony Khan's promotion. That said, a new report from Wrestling Observer Radio has provided clarity. According to WOR, El Clon's absence from AEW programming is being attributed to issues with his United States work visa. It was also noted that the issues he is facing are similar to those faced by the Beast Mortos and Gabe Kidd earlier this year.

As we touched on earlier, El Clon's presence in AEW and his place in professional wrestling are tied to his 'alter ego,' Hologram. The promotion used this connection to create one of the more unique debuts in recent history. El Clon first appeared during a backstage segment on Collision in September 2025, alongside Hologram, Komander, and Alex Abrahnates (Komander's manager). Notably, Hologram had been experiencing glitching issues for weeks heading into this episode of Collision.

The segment focused on Komander addressing his challenge to DCF's Kyle Fletcher (who was then the TNT champion). The championship match was scheduled for later in the show. In the middle of the segment, Hologram started glitching again, and it was revealed that El Clon took over his system, hinting at his physical arrival in All Elite Wrestling soon. The segment ended with the lights going off, then coming back on for fans to witness Fletcher put a beatdown on Hologram.
