Astrologer Sumit Bajaj has predicted that Team India star Rohit Sharma's ODI future could be decided after the ongoing three-match series against England. The 39-year-old's form has been under scrutiny following consecutive underwhelming outings on the England tour.

He registered scores of 11 (21 balls) and 26 (47 balls) in the first two outings. Bajaj suggested that the former captain's position in the team would be decided ahead of the Men in Blue's next ODI assignment in September.

    Bajaj wrote on X:

Notably, Bajaj had earlier predicted that Sharma was unlikely to feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup. He claimed that the ace batter's retirement process would start in August 2026. The astrologer wrote on X in February:

Meanwhile, the Indian Express reported on July 16 that the third ODI against England could mark Sharma's final appearance in international cricket. He has already retired from T20Is and Tests, remaining active in just ODIs.

According to a PTI report, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that there was no truth in the Rohit Sharma retirement rumors. He assured that the upcoming third ODI won't be the senior player's final match for India.

Saikia was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports:

The ODI series between India and England currently stands at 1-1. The deciding encounter will take place at Lord's in London on Sunday, July 19.
