Dominik Mysterio has been locked in a storyline with Danhausen heading into SummerSlam, since it appears that WWE has missed the boat when it comes to a potential face turn for the former Intercontinental champion.
Dominik Mysterio has been working as a face in AAA over the past few months and is the Mega Champion on the brand. But in WWE, it seems that Mysterio has remained a heel and one of the leaders of The Judgment Day.
Liv Morgan is one of the best heels in the company at present, which is why Mysterio has been able to get over as a heel on the red brand.
According to Select Answers, the belief is that if Mysterio was going to turn face, he would have already. He has been stuck in the mid-card with Danhausen for several weeks and now has a match against him at SummerSlam.
It was also noted that WWE has done nothing with Finn Balor since turning him face; instead, he was moved over to SmackDown and has only had two matches despite this being a huge change and a chance at a fresh start.
Many fans have argued that The Judgment Day should have come to an end a long time ago. The group has been kept together even though there is no real storyline for them, and it's led to them clinging on for relevance much of the time.
Mysterio should be pushing towards the main event level since he is a former Intercontinental Champion and current Mega Champion in AAA. Instead, he is in a storyline with Danhausen, since the WWE newcomer has been an issue for The Judgment Day in recent weeks.
Danhausen stole money from The Judgment Day, and that's the reason they have had issues with him. He was also present at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, where he cursed Liv Morgan and cost her the Queen of the Ring win.
Morgan has remained cursed, and JD McDonagh was also recently cursed by Danhausen, which is one of the reasons for their current feud.
