Stating that enumeration forms have been distributed to majority of the electors in Udupi District, Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa on Tuesday, urged them to return the filled-in forms to booth level officers (BLOs) at the earliest to help speedy completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being undertaken by the Election Commission of India.

Chairing a meeting of representatives of political parties at Rajatadri, the district office complex in Manipal, Ms. Swaroopa urged political parties and electors to cooperate with the administration to maintain the accuracy and transparency of the rolls. Enumeration forms have been distributed to 99.97% of the electors in the district with 425 forms remaining to be distributed in Udupi Assembly constituency, she said.

Ms. Swaroopa said if the forms are filled and submitted, it will be convenient for the BLOs to digitise them. If submitted at the last minute, it may lead to confusion.

Stating that the SIR is going on systematically in the district, the DC said till July 14, enumeration forms were distributed to 10,63,451 voters out of a total of 10,63,876 voters in the district, which is 99.97% progress. Of them, 3,22,027 forms are digitised, which is 30.27% progress. She said 1,647 voters were found dead, 1,166 are permanently relocated and 396 new voters have registered.

So far, enumeration forms are distributed to all voters in 118-Byndoor, 119-Kundapura, 121-Kapu and 122-Karkala Assembly constituencies in the district. She said BLOs and booth level agents (BLAs) concerned in Udupi constituency to distribute pending 425 forms immediately.

Widespread awareness is being created to avoid confusion among the public while filling the census forms. Special training has been given to BLOs and BLAs to avoid common mistakes while filling the first and second parts of the forms.
