Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader A. Revanth Reddy issued a stern warning to party leaders to intensify their participation in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, directing them to stay away from Gandhi Bhavan and focus entirely on field work until the August 3 deadline for submission of applications.
Addressing a Zoom meeting attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, AICC secretary Sachin Sawant, ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, constituency in-charges and SIR coordinators, the Chief Minister said the extension of the SIR deadline should be utilised as an opportunity to reach every voter.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the performance of some leaders, Mr. Reddy warned that those who remained inactive during the SIR campaign would not be considered for nominated posts such as corporation chairpersons. He also cautioned MPs, MLAs and MLCs against skipping SIR review meetings, stating that the party would view seriously those who failed to discharge their responsibilities.
The Chief Minister directed the 10 in-charge ministers to closely supervise the SIR process in their respective districts and announced that a comprehensive constituency-wise review meeting would be held on July 30 to assess progress. He also instructed MPs serving as district in-charges to conduct regular review meetings even while attending the ongoing Parliament session.
Stressing the importance of grassroots mobilisation, Mr. Reddy said the party had so far organised 489 SIR meetings across all 119 Assembly constituencies. However, he called for immediate corrective measures in constituencies where progress remained slow.
He instructed MLAs, constituency in-charges and party chairpersons to scrutinise reports submitted by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) instead of relying solely on reports prepared by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Warning against complacency, he said action would be taken against in-charges who depended only on official reports without verifying the party’s grassroots feedback.
The Chief Minister directed ministers, legislators, corporation chairpersons and constituency in-charges to undertake extensive tours of Assembly segments over the next 10 days and ensure the active involvement of BLAs.
As an incentive, Mr. Reddy announced that the 100 best-performing Booth Level Agents would be given an opportunity to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and have a photograph taken with him, recognising their contribution to the SIR campaign.
