In a tragic incident, the body of a senior revenue official from Annamayya district was found on the railway tracks at the outskirts of Siddampalle railway station near Chittoor, close to the Tamil Nadu border, in the early hours of Friday (July 24, 2026).

According to the Railway Police, the deceased, identified as Srinivasulu (58), worked as a Superintendent in the PGRS wing of the Collectorate in Madanapalle, Annamayya district. He was earlier suspended while he was posted as Tehsildar in the Lakkireddipalle mandal of the present Kadapa district. The police suspect it to be an act of suicide. A case has been registered, and the body has been shifted to the Government District Hospital here for a post-mortem.
