Veteran batter Rohit Sharma made a brilliant comeback in the third ODI against England. The game is being played at Lord's on Sunday, July 19. Batting first, England posted a mammoth total of 387/3.
Opening the batting for India in the chase, Rohit Sharma showed positive intent right from the start. He looked in good touch, making a solid comeback after poor scores in the first two matches.
In the 21st over, Rohit smashed consecutive boundaries to get to his half-century in style. On the fifth ball, he played a clever shot off Gus Atkinson. It was a fuller-length delivery that he picked well by going across. The right-hander scooped it fine to collect a boundary and reach the milestone. He raised his bat to the crowd and acknowledged the applause. His wife, Ritika Sajdeh, who is also present in the stands, was also seen cheering as he got to his fifty.

Rohit Sharma was under immense pressure with scores of 11 and 26, along with retirement rumours and the possibility of the Lord's ODI being his last international match. However, he responded in style, notching up his 63rd fifty in the format.
Rohit Sharma also achieved a unique milestone en route to his half-century. He became the first overseas batter to score 1500 ODI runs in England. The veteran batter now has 1532 runs in England from 30 ODIs at an average of 63.83 with seven hundreds and eight half-centuries.
His India teammate Virat Kohli is behind him with 1419 runs from 35 innings at an average of 50.67 with a hundred and 13 half-centuries. New Zealand's Kane Williamson is at number three with 1393 runs from 24 matches at an average of 69.65 with four hundreds and nine half-centuries, followed by Ricky Ponting, who made 1387 runs from 38 matches at an average of 42.03 with three hundreds and six fifties.
With India chasing a daunting target of 388 to clinch the series, they would expect Rohit to go on and score a big hundred.
