Salman Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The actor has also been making headlines after a recent public appearance in Mumbai sparked concern among some fans about his health. While social media was filled with discussions about his appearance, many also revisited his fitness routine and diet. This brings back an earlier interview in which Salman revealed one simple food rule he follows to stay fit at the age of 60.

Salman Khan says fitness matters more than strict dieting

Salman Khan has always been known for maintaining a muscular physique, whether for action films or everyday fitness. Over the years, the actor has often spoken about the discipline required to stay in shape, especially when preparing for physically demanding roles.

In an earlier interview with Variety India, Salman opened up about his eating habits while discussing fitness and body transformations. When asked about the first cheat meal he enjoys after completing a major transformation, the actor surprised many with his response.

According to Salman, he does not really believe in waiting for a "cheat day." Instead, he said that every day is a cheat day for him because he prefers enjoying the food he likes rather than following an extremely restrictive diet.

He explained that instead of denying himself food, he would rather spend extra time working out. The actor added that he is not a fan of steamed food and prefers eating meals he enjoys while balancing them with consistent exercise.

The one diet rule Salman Khan follows

During the same conversation, Salman also shared one rule that remains constant in his diet.

The Sultan actor revealed that he does not eat rotis. He said, "The amount of protein that I need to eat, I just eat…no matter how tasty the food is…I will take one tablespoon of rice. I don’t touch rotis. That’s it. And then whatever protein I need, I try to finish it with that one tablespoon of rice."

His approach is different from many popular crash diets. Rather than cutting out food completely, Salman appears to focus on portion control, regular workouts and meeting his nutritional goals.

Maatrubhumi is Salman Khan's next big release

On the work front, Salman recently unveiled the first look of Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace. Sharing a picture of himself surrounded by nature while showing off his muscular physique, the actor simply captioned the post, "MAATRUBHUMI."

Produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films, the film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and also stars Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role. The project was originally scheduled for release earlier this year but was later postponed. The makers are yet to announce a new release date.

Salman was most recently seen in a cameo appearance as Jiva Mahala in Raja Shivaji. Besides Maatrubhumi, he also has another major project lined up for Eid 2027.
