South Central Railway (SCR) general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, accompanied by principal heads of departments, visited the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Operations Control Centre at the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) administrative office in Nagole on Tuesday to gain insights into the metro rail system’s functioning and future plans.

During the visit, officials briefed him on various aspects of metro rail operations, including the operational framework, maintenance practices, passenger patronage, ongoing initiatives and expansion plans.

Mr. Srivastava appreciated the maintenance standards adopted by Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and commended the officials for ensuring efficient train operations through the use of advanced technologies and robust maintenance practices. He said continued cooperation between SCR and HMR would further strengthen urban transportation infrastructure in the region.

HMR and L&TMRH officials sought continued support from the Railways for the successful execution of upcoming metro rail expansion projects, particularly at railway level crossings.

Mr.Srivastava was also briefed on train monitoring systems, safety protocols and disaster management mechanisms. As part of the visit, he inspected facilities involved in the maintenance of metro coaches and observed the deployment of modern technologies in operations and upkeep.

He visited pit lines and examined points and crossings on the approach tracks used for the entry of metro trains into the maintenance depot. Officials explained the procedures adopted to ensure operational efficiency, reliability and passenger safety.

HMR additional managing director Ajith Reddy, joint managing director Shivendra Pratap Singh, L&TMRH chief operating officer Sudhir Chiplunkar and other senior officials were present during the visit, said a press release.
