Search operations are underway for a country boat fisherman who went missing after venturing into the Gulf of Mannar sea area from Pamban.

Karthikai Rajan, 45, a fisherman from the Pamban Chinnapalam area near Rameswaram, went fishing in a country boat.

On Monday night, while returning towards Pamban after fishing, he accidentally fell off the country boat into the sea in the Gulf of Mannar region and went missing.

Though the fellow fishermen on the boat searched for Karthikai Rajan throughout the night, they could not find him.

To intensify the search operation, more than five country boats with fellow fishermen set out into the sea again on Tuesday morning to search for the missing fisherman.

Further, the relatives of the fisherman have lodged a complaint with the Fisheries Department Office and the Coastal Security Group regarding the missing fisherman.
