A security guard was found dead at the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) in the early hours of Sunday (July 26, 2026). 

    A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said Muniyan, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Kadapperi near Tambaram was working as a security guard in a private pharmaceutical company located in the Tambaram MEPZ complex, for the past eight months.

    On Saturday (July 25) night, he had reported for duty but did not return home. Based on the alert from his relative, the Tambaram police launched a search. A police team found him dead near the company premises, lying in a pool of blood with a severe injury to the left side of his face.

    A senior official of the Tambaram police Commissionerate said inquiries and CCTV footage revealed that there was no foul play in the death of the security guard. He was heavily drunk and had fallen down and died, the official said.

    Tambaram Police Inspector Chelladurai, after inspecting the crime scene, sent the body to the Tambaram Government hospital for post-mortem examination.
