New Delhi: Actress Shabana Azmi, who joined the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest on Monday (July 20), felt unwell during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, according to reports.

Volunteers and security personnel then assisted the 75-year-old actress to a safe place to rest. The volunteers were also seen fanning her inside the cabin.

A video has been going viral on social media, where the veteran actress Shabana Azmi appeared to feel dizzy during the Cockroach Janta Party protest in Delhi on Monday.

Speaking to India Today, the veteran actress said that the students were attacked with lathis and tear gas.

“I was right there when the tear gassing happened, and I was witness to the children being lathi-charged, and also girls… young girls being lathi-charged. They tried to put the blame on the students and said somebody threw a shoe and that’s how they started, but that’s not what I saw, and that’s not what all the students kept saying. They were showing me their wounds, and they were saying they wanted to do a completely non-violent protest, which is what was being told to them constantly from the podium,” she said.

She also said that the protest site had been cleared on Monday, but if the protest continues, paramilitary forces could be brought in.

“Well, we have now heard that today they’ve said that we’re going to clear the place, but we have heard that tomorrow if there is any gathering at all, they are going to turn it violent and then bring in the paramilitary forces and make it into a really violent thing. Is this any way of behaving?,” she was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the CJP protest has been backed by several celebrities, including Diljit Dosanjh, Javed Akhtar, Naseeruddin Shah, Riteish Deshmukh, Swara Bhasker, Bhumi Pednekar, Huma Qureshi, Sutapa Sikdar, Omi Vaidya, Abhay Deol, and Imran Khan, among others.
