The Hosanagara police on Sunday (July 19) arrested two persons in connection with the alleged murder of a timber worker at Sonale village in Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga district.
The deceased, identified as Parashuram Ramappa Lamani, a native of Dharwad, had reportedly come to Sonale for timber-cutting work and was staying in a rented house.
According to the police, he got into an argument with two of his friends, identified as Parashuram Shettappa Tamburi, 27, and Arun Punnappa Lamani, 34, over a personal matter. The two allegedly assaulted and killed him following the quarrel on Saturday (July 18).
Based on a complaint filed by Lakshman Govind, another friend of the deceased, the Hosanagara police registered a case under Section 103(1) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil on Monday (July 20) told the media that the two accused had been arrested. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
