Calling for unity to safeguard the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has pledged the Centre’s continued support to the public sector coal company and vowed to stand by its workers in securing a sustainable future.

Addressing a public meeting at Kyathanpalli in Mancherial district on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy said the allocation of the Tadicherla-II Coal Block to the SCCL without an auction reflected the Narendra Modi-led Central government’s commitment to the company’s long-term growth.

The meeting marked the culmination of the BJP’s two-day ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ in the State’s coal belt.

Alleging that the SCCL’s present condition was the result of years of mismanagement, diversion of funds and political interference, he blamed the previous BRS government and the present Congress government.

He claimed that the SCCL was facing a financial crunch, with outstanding dues of nearly ₹54,000 crore from power utilities.

He held the previous BRS regime as well as the present Congress government responsible for the situation.

Mr., Reddy said the Tadicherla-II coal block has the potential to significantly augment coal production, strengthen the SCCL, generate employment and boost the region’s economy.

The new block, he said, would reinforce the confidence of the company’s employees, workers and their families by ensuring a sustainable future for the SCCL.

BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao, the party MPs G. Nagesh and Eatala Rajender, Legislature Party Floor leader A. Maheshwar Reddy and others spoke.

Earlier in the day, the Union Minister, accompanied by a host of senior BJP leaders, visited the Tadicherla-II coal block in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, the SRP-3 underground coal mine at Srirampur of Mancherial district, besides touring other mines in the State’s coal belt.
