Following the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) extension of the deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the electoral roll updating exercise has gathered pace in Hisar and Bhiwani districts.

The ECI has extended the deadline for door-to-door verification till July 24 as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) continue to digitise enumeration forms.

In Hisar district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mahender Pal said that of the total 13,70,766 voters, enumeration forms of 11,77,500 electors have been digitised so far, accounting for 85.9 per cent of the electorate. Enumeration forms could not be collected from 1,49,767 voters (10.93 per cent) for various reasons, while only 43,499 forms (3.17 per cent) remain pending.

The DC said 1,333 BLOs are engaged in the exercise and are continuously working in the field to complete the remaining forms. Electors who could not be contacted during the first visit are being approached again to collect their enumeration forms.

Assembly segment-wise, Narnaund has recorded the highest digitisation at 90.94 per cent, followed by Adampur (89.87 per cent), Barwala (87.97 per cent), Hansi (87.4 per cent), Nalwa (86.22 per cent), Uklana (85.93 per cent) and Hisar (72.19 per cent).

Meanwhile, in Bhiwani, Deputy Commissioner Sahil Gupta said enumeration forms for 88.11 per cent of the district’s 8,84,173 voters have been digitised so far. Assembly segment-wise, Loharu has achieved 95 per cent digitisation, followed by Tosham (92.07 per cent), Bawani Khera (81.73 per cent) and Bhiwani (80.55 per cent).

Gupta said the draft electoral roll would be published on July 31. Eligible citizens can apply for inclusion of names, corrections or raise objections between July 31 and August 30. All claims and objections will be disposed of by September 28, and the final electoral rolls will be published on October 3.
