Nellore district Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitha Vejendla transferred the entire 23-member staff of Buchireddypalem police station, including Circle Inspector (CI) Srinivasa Rao, who was sent to Vacancy Reserve (VR). The mass transfer and disciplinary action were reportedly prompted due to allegations of corruption and negligence in performing their duties in connection with an alleged murder case, sources said.

According to the sources, Mandal Agriculture Officer Nadavati Srihari from Kotha Minagallu village had died under mysterious circumstances on July 6, 2026. His wife N. Lavanya lodged a complaint expressing doubts over her husband’s death. On reviewing the complaint, the SP issued orders to conduct an investigation into the incident.

Following the SP’s orders, Nellore Rural Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao personally supervised the investigation, questioning witnesses, blood relatives, and other key individuals. Based on the evidence gathered, Sompalli Ravindra from Golagamudi and Buchingari Yanadayya from Ramatheertham were taken into custody on Saturday.

After interrogation, the accused were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody. According to the police, the prime accused in this case is Kudumula Harikrishna, a resident of Ravuri Vari Kandriga village in TP Gudur mandal. He is the brother-in-law of the deceased. Since he is currently absconding, special police teams have been deployed to conduct an extensive search operation to arrest him.
