Argentina will look to complete its FIFA World Cup title defence on Sunday, with Spain being the last hurdle at the New Jersey Stadium.

Lionel Messi’s side is on a seven-game winning run in the tournament and has come through the knockout stage after some nerve-racking matches. Spain, too, is yet to taste defeat and has overcome title contenders Portugal and France on its way to the final.

Being in the spotlight during the showpiece finale will be nothing new for the players taking the field on Sunday. Both teams have players who ply their trade at some of the best clubs in Europe.

Atletico Madrid leads the way, with nine players from the red-and-white club featuring in New Jersey on Sunday. Barcelona follows closely behind, with eight of its players in the final.

As a result, La Liga is the biggest supplier of talent for the World Cup final, with more than 20 players in the title decider playing in the Spanish top flight.
