Spain’s Pau Cubarsi won the FIFA World Cup 2026 Young Player of the Year award on Sunday.
The 19-year-old centre-back was crucial to Spain’s second World Cup title win, when it beat Argentina 1-0 in the final.
Cubarsi started all eight games for La Roja in a campaign where it conceded just a single goal.
At 19 years and 178 days, Cubarsi becomes the youngest to win the award, which was introduced in 2006.
The Barcelona player made his national team debut in 2024, when he became the youngest defender to play for Spain aged 17.
