Speculations are abuzz in Maharashtra after rival NCP and NCP SP leaders met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis late in the night on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) at his official bungalow ‘Varsha’. The meeting lasted for a few minutes.
Top sources claimed that the leaders had come separately as part of two different appointments. “The meeting was not held together with all three of them. While Mr. Jayant Patil came with a letter requesting the CM to look into the expulsion of a civic body member in Ishwarpur, Mr. Patel and Mr. Tatkare came for a different issue,” a senior leader who was a part of the developments, told The Hindu on Wednesday morning (July 15, 2026).
NCP SP leader Jayant Patil told reporters thereafter that he had gone separately for an issue related to his constituency. NCP leaders Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
The meeting has sparked speculations about the possibility of the NCP SP supporting the NDA in the coming few days. Amid speculations that the majority of NCP SP legislators want to go with the BJP, the possibility of a merger between NCP and NCP SP is also being discussed in hush-hushed tones.
NCP SP has 10 MLAs, eight Lok Sabha MPs and one Rajya Sabha MP.
After these speculations, NCP SP leader Supriya Sule is slated to hold a press conference at 12 noon today.
