The ‘Shakambari Utsavam’ for Goddess Bhramaramba at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam will be held on July 29, marking ‘Ashadha Purnima’. Special rituals will be performed and 40 varieties of leafy greens and vegetables will be used to decorate the Goddess on the day.
Srisailam temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao on Monday (July 13) held a preparatory meeting to discuss the arrangements for the festival. Chief priests of the temples of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba, Vedic scholars, the Sthanacharya, the Deputy Executive Officer, heads of all departments, and supervisors from various sections participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the EO instructed the Vedic staff to ensure that all rituals associated with the festival conducted for the welfare of the world are performed flawlessly. He directed the Horticulture department to procure the necessary quantities of vegetables, leafy greens, and fruits required for the Goddess’s decoration during the festival.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao directed that at least 40 varieties of leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits be procured for the festival.
It was decided that the processional idol of the Goddess be installed at the ‘Akkamahadevi Alankara Mandapam’ for the Shakambari decoration, to ensure that all the devotees have a glimpse of the Goddess. The Mandapam should be decorated with leafy greens and vegetables for the occasion, he said.
In addition to Goddess Bhramaramba Devi, special rituals and Shakambari decorations will be performed for Goddess Rajarajeshwari and the village deity Goddess Ankalamma within the temple premises.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao instructed that the temple premises and entrances be decorated with leafy greens and vegetables for the festival. ‘Kadambam’, a dish prepared with a variety of vegetables, should be distributed as 'Prasadam’ to devotees during the festival, he said.
‘Arjita Kumkumarchana’ ritual for the Goddess will be suspended on July 29. Mr. Srinivasa Rao also discussed about the ‘Dakshinamurthy Puja’ and ‘Vyasa Puja’ scheduled at the temple on July 29 to mark ‘Guru Purnima’.
