The next day, Hill, a reporter who has worked with ESPN among others, fired back by pointing out Clark's lack of playoff success:

In response, Griffin called out Hill for missing the nuance that differentiates "best player" from "most popular player":
RGIII has always been a staunch supporter of Lionel Messi, especially during the 2026 World Cup. And as other stars on the Argentine team emerge, he has come to appreciate the footballer's reputation more.
