Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is reportedly fit and available for selection for the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka in August. The selectors are likely to pick the squad for the Test series in Sri Lanka on Monday, July 27.
The series in Sri Lanka will be India's first in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle since the 2-0 defeat to South Africa at home in November last year. India are currently fifth in the WTC table.
As per a report in Cricinfo, Jadeja is in contention for a place in the Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. The 37-year-old suffered a tennis elbow injury during IPL 2026, has been out of action since then. His last match for India was the Indore ODI against New Zealand in January this year.
The report further added that pacer Harshit Rana is yet to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered in England. Also, there is uncertainty over Washington Sundar's availability as well. The all-rounder picked up a hamstring injury during the third ODI against England.
The Cricinfo report also claimed that off-spinning all-rounder Saransh Jain could have an outside chance of being picked in the Test squad for Sri Lanka considering the number of left-handers in the Sri Lankan team. Jain picked up six wickets and scored 70 runs for India A against Sri Lanka A in the second unofficial Test in Galle earlier this month.
Meanwhile, lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the third ODI against England at Lord's ODI due to an impact injury to his left knee, is likely to be fit for the Tests in Sri Lanka. No official announcement has been made about the same yet. On the other hand, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is recovering from a quadriceps injury, is unlikely to be available for the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka.
The first Test of the series will be played in Galle starting August 15. The second Test will get underway at the SSC in Colombo starting August 23.
