A Sub-Inspector of Police, Sathyamoorthi of Tirupuvanam police station, and Village Assistant of Mela Rangiyam, R. Ganesan, were reportedly trapped by DVAC sleuths when they demanded and accepted bribe money in two different incidents on Thursday.

The police said that the SI had demanded ₹8,000 from one Deivendran after conducting enquiring into a love affair complaint.

After having taken ₹5,000 through G-pay, the SI had continued to insist Deivendran to pay the balance ₹3,000.

Based on his complaint, the DVAC Sivaganga unit officials laid a trap at a hotel and arrested him.

In the other incident, Village Assistant Ganesan had demanded ₹3,000 from one Oorkavalan for dealing with his petition with regard to patta for his land.

The DVAC sleuths trapped him at the office of VAO at Mela Rangiyam.
