An industry conclave in the national capital on expanding ethanol blending in fuel turned out to be a little too combustible for some. Several senior bureaucrats who had confirmed their participation quietly pulled out of scheduled roundtables at the last minute. An executive at the Grain Ethanol Manufacturers Association, which organised the event, quipped that it seems they had all come down with a bout of “Delhi belly”. Whatever the reason, it appeared few were keen to add more fuel to an already fiery debate.
