A nearly 100-foot-long iron bridge came under threat after a surge in the water level of Lippa Khad in Lippa village of Kinnaur district, triggering panic among residents. No loss of life has been reported so far, but road connectivity to the village has been affected.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the water level of the Khad rose sharply, almost submerging the bridge under the heavy flow. Debris carried by the water also reportedly reached several houses and orchards in the village. On receiving information about the incident, the district administration immediately issued an alert, advising people not to use the bridge.
A video of the incident also surfaced on social media, showing debris-laden water reaching the bridge. Meanwhile, residents have urged the district administration to clear the debris and restore road connectivity at the earliest.
