The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing police have arrested a surveyor while allegedly receiving bribe of ₹10,000 from a construction worker for recommending for patta for his house.
Police said construction worker Madasamy, 52, of Piranoor near Shencottai in the district had purchased in the name of his wife Arumugam a small house on 2.26 cents of land from one Kuzhanthaivel. When he applied for transferring the patta in the name of his wife, surveyor of Shencottai Ramar Selvam, 37, surveyed the land.
As the surveyor demanded ₹10,000 as bribe for recommending for issue of patta, Mr. Madasamy filed a complaint with the DVAC wing police, who trapped Ramar Selvam when he received the bribe from the complainant on Friday.
Further investigations are on.
