Colombia grinded out a 1-0 victory against Ghana in its previous encounter in the Round of 32, courtesy of a Jhon Arias strike. Switzerland, meanwhile, clinched a comfortable 2-0 win against Algeria to secure a pre-quarterfinals spot.
The victor of this clash will take on the winner of Argentina-Egypt alternate round of 16 fixture.

Switzerland and Colombia have met once before, in the group stage of the 1994 World Cup. Goals from Herman Gaviria and Harold Lozano helped the South American side win 2-0 against Roy Hodgson’s side. The win only proved to be a consolation for Los Cafeteros as they finished bottom of the standings.
