A 17-year-old girl reportedly ended her life at her relatives’ house in Baireddipalle mandal of Chittoor district in the early hours of Monday (July 27, 2026), the police said.
The girl was from Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu. The police said that she was related to another person, a minor, from the village, and that the two families had been discussing a marriage between them.
The death led to tension in the village as family members and residents gathered at the house. The police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The body was sent to the area government hospital for post-mortem examination. The police registered a case and took up further investigation.
