Former Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon missed the 2025 season due to a mysterious foot injury that required surgery last year. Mixon reportedly underwent an additional surgery during the 2026 offseason.
Mixon, who was released by the Texans in March, is reportedly set to retire. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, Mixon has told his former Cincinnati Bengals teammate about his decision.

Mixon spent seven seasons with the Bengals before he was traded to the Texans in March 2024. He started 14 games in his first year with Houston, posting 1016 rushing yards with 12 total touchdowns.

Aaron Wilson said a source informed him that there's some "hope" for Joe Mixon to return for the 2026 season but he expects his NFL career to be over after a surgery in the offseason.
Wilson said he believes the "rumor" about Mixon dropping a weight on his foot, which led to the surgery in the offseason.
