Turkish side Besiktas have distanced themselves from rumours linking them with a move for Mohamed Salah. They hit out at a journalist for spreading rumours and making up transfers.
Taking to their social media, Besiktas said that journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has been misleading the fans with fake information. They said that the club have no connection with him, nor are any of his reports remotely close to the truth.
They urged the fans ot not to acknowledge any of the posts by the Turkish journalist, adding that they believe in transparency and will communicate on social media if they were in talks with any top players.
Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has been regarded as the top Turkish journalist and has amassed over two million followers on X (formerly Twitter). He was the first to report that Mohamed Salah had a deal in place to join the Turkish giants.
Mohamed Salah is a free agent this summer following his decision to leave Liverpool a year ahead of his contract expiry. He has been linked with several clubs across Europe, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, took to X (formerly Twitter) yesterday, stating that the Egyptian forward will not hold talks with any side, unless he is interested in joining them.
Following rumours of an agreement with Besiktas, Abbas added that he was unaware of any such deal and posted:
Mohamed Salah has been touted to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who have been interested in him since 2023.
