A major match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event ended in controversy. A popular star broke his silence to address it on social media.
In the final match of the show, Gunther and Sami Zayn went up against Cody Rhodes and CM Punk in a tag team match with a chance to be added to the Undisputed WWE Championship Match scheduled for SummerSlam, making it a fatal four-way match. Towards the end of the bout, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis showed up to change the entire course of the match.
As Gunther had Cody Rhodes' shoulder on the mat, Aldis pulled the referee out of the ring to stop him from counting three. The 39-year-old proceeded to smack The Ring General across the face with the Undisputed WWE Championship. It allowed CM Punk to floor Gunther with the GTS, and The American Nightmare pinned him to score the win.
Earlier today, Gunther posted a recap video on Instagram to express his displeasure over the controversial finish at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Towards the end of the clip, the Austrian star made it clear that he was very disappointed with the result. He further referred to it as a "scandal" in the caption.

There have been a lot of speculations regarding a potential match between Gunther and Nick Aldis ever since their backstage confrontation at Night of Champions. The two were sent back home after things got physical.
Nick Aldis and Gunther came face to face again on the July 10 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The segment ended with the former World Heavyweight Champion brutally attacking the GM. However, Aldis got his revenge at Saturday Night's Main Event.
WWE Head of Creative Triple H recently posted an update across his social media handles to announce a singles match between Gunther and Nick Aldis for the SummerSlam Premium Live Event.
It will be Nick Aldis' first match in nearly three years. Only time will tell how he performs against The Ring General at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
