NASCAR on Prime host Danielle Trotta has criticized six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon over his recent comments about NASCAR Cup racing.

The controversy started when Dixon was asked if he wanted IndyCar races to be longer after the Nashville Superspeedway event returned to a 400-mile format. Instead of giving a detailed answer about race distance, the New Zealander turned his attention to NASCAR.

Trotta, studio host for Prime Video's NASCAR coverage and a pit reporter for TNT Sports, reacted to the remarks on X. She shared the viral meme of basketball player Sophie Cunningham and wrote:

She responded to a fan comment and again took aim at Dixon.

Trotta further shared her shock at Dixon's comments on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. She pointed out that Dixon races in IndyCar, which is owned by Roger Penske, who is also a team owner in the NASCAR Cup Series. At the same time, FOX Sports broadcasts IndyCar races and owns the TV rights to NASCAR races.

Dixon is one of the most successful drivers in IndyCar history. The Chip Ganassi Racing veteran has won six IndyCar championships and the 2008 Indianapolis 500.

Marco Andretti also stepped in to calm the debate after Scott Dixon's comments about NASCAR Cup racing went viral. The grandson of racing legend Mario Andretti and former IndyCar driver felt many fans had misunderstood what Dixon meant.

Scott Dixon is 11th in the IndyCar series championship standings after 12 races for Chip Ganassi Racing. He will leave the team at the end of the 2026 season and join Arrow McLaren next year.
