Argentina star Enzo Fernandez has released a statement after his red card in the FIFA World Cup final against Spain. The midfielder has not apologised for his dismissal but has thanked the fans for their support.

    Taking to Instagram, Fernandez said that he is proud of what the Argentina squad has done in the last few months. He added that it is always an honour to play for the national team at every chance and said:

    Enzo Fernandez got sent off in the FIFA World Cup final after picking up two quick bookings. He was first booked for dissent, before his tackle on Pau Cubarsi got him the second booking in the 90th minute.

    Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move to Real Madrid after the FIFA World Cup, and the Chelsea star is reportedly keen on joining them. His agent Javier Pastore said that the Argentina star was not thinking about his club future after the summer tournament and said:

    Real Madrid released a statement amid rumours that they were not plotting a move for the Chelsea star, nor were they in talks with the midfielder during the FIFA World Cup.
