Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan pointed out India's inability to dismiss veteran batter Joe Root even once throughout the series. England won the third and final ODI by 27 runs to clinch the series 2-1.

The hosts posted a massive total of 387/3 batting first. Root smashed an unbeaten 74 off just 48 balls with nine boundaries at a strike rate of 154.17. Irfan Pathan called out the Indian bowlers for being unable to plan well against him.

Root scored 249 runs from three games with scores of 76* (76), 99* (133), and 74* (48) in the three matches respectively. He was also named 'Player of the Series'.

Irfan Pathan was unhappy with the lengths that the Indian bowlers bowled with the new ball. England's openers added 192 runs for the first wicket, with the Men in Blue getting the maiden breakthrough in the 31st over. He was disappointed with the bowlers being unable to put pressure through the middle overs, and also called the poor planning and execution at the death.

India leaked 126 runs from overs 41 to 50, including 82 runs in the last five overs alone, which led to England batting them out of the game. It made the difference as India got to 360/7 but ended up falling short in the end.
