Kyle Shanahan's car accident has become one of the hottest topics within the NFL community -- not just because of the stature of the person involved, but also because of the circumstances of how it became public.

While the event happened on July 14, it did not become public knowledge until this past Saturday, eleven days later -- a day before the San Francisco 49ers were to start preseason camp. Apparently, the organization had asked ESPN to withhold details by the organization, something that Dan Patrick expressed disappointment at on Monday's episode of his eponymous NBC Sports show:
