Three men were arrested by the R.K. Nagar police for allegedly possessing 1,200 Tapentadol painkiller tablets and 1.5 kg of ganja for sale. 

    Based on a tip-off, a police team from R.K. Nagar Police Station kept surveillance near the IOC Diesel Yard on Friday (July 10, 2026) morning. The police personnel intercepted an autorickshaw carrying three persons and, during a search, found that they were concealing painkiller tablets and ganja meant for sale.

    The police arrested Mohanasundaram alias Barfi Mohan (25) of New Washermenpet, Saddam Hussain (30) of Tondiarpet, and Eswaran alias Prem (25) of Kargil Nagar, Tiruvottiyur. They seized 1.5 kg of ganja, 1,200 Tapentadol tablets, and the autorickshaw.

    Police said Mohanasundaram has 11 previous criminal cases against him, while Saddam Hussain and Eswaran have four criminal cases each. Further investigation is under way.
