The Malpe police have arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 13.15 grams of narcotic substances, worth ₹3.31 lakh, from their possession.
The police identified the accused as Vijay Poojary, 36, of Udyavara village in Udupi taluk; P.A. Mohammed Sammas, 24, of Kukkanduru in Udupi taluk; and Akash Shetty, 20, of Miyar village in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
According to a press note, a team from Malpe police stations, led by Inspector Ramachandra Nayak, raided a place in Shivalli village where the accused had stocked various narcotic drugs. The accused were selling the drugs to clients in Kapu, Udupi, Manipal and Karkala.
The police seized 4 grams of MDMA powder, 3.65 grams of MDMA tablets, 2.5 grams of hydroponic weed, 3 grams of cannabis, a car, and other articles from the arrested persons. They were booked under Sections 8(c), 20(c) and 22(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the police said.
