The Telangana EAGLE Force, in coordination with the Khammam police, seized 94.775 kg of marijuana worth an estimated ₹47.39 lakh and arrested three alleged transporters on the Greenfield Highway in Khammam district.
The police intercepted the car (DL 8 CZ 2449) in which the accused were travelling on Sunday, July 12, at Exit No. 6. During the search, police recovered 40 packets of marijuana weighing 94.775 kg, along with two smartphones and a keypad mobile phone.
The arrested were identified as Akula Ayyappa Reddy, Mogilisetti Devi and Pujari Chandrashekar Ambrish.
According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment was being transported to Mysuru in Karnataka from Malkangiri district in Odisha.
Police identified the alleged supplier as Guru and the intended receiver as Manoj and efforts are underway to nab them.
The accused and the seized property were handed over to the V.M. Banjara police station in the Khammam Commissionerate, where a case was registered. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and identify others involved in the drug trafficking network.
