Three minor girls from migrant worker families left their homes in Domalguda with luggage, triggering a police search after their families reported them missing on Sunday night.

The girls, identified as Shilpa Kumari, 17, and sisters Lata and Sneha, both 14, are from Chhattisgarh and have been living with their families in Farid Basti.

According to the police, the girls had arrived in Hyderabad with their parents around a month ago. Their parents, who work as labourers, had come to the city for employment. The girls had reportedly told their parents on several occasions that they were uncomfortable in Hyderabad and wanted to return to their hometown.

Police suspect that the girls left their homes late on Sunday with their luggage. CCTV footage showed them taking an auto-rickshaw from Himayatnagar towards Secunderabad railway station.

The girls are also believed to have made enquiries about trains to Chhattisgarh. As there is no direct train from Hyderabad to their native place, police are examining railway and CCTV footage to determine which train they boarded.

Special teams have been formed to trace the girls. Police are checking surveillance footage, coordinating with railway authorities and alerting police units in neighbouring districts and Chhattisgarh. The investigation is underway.
